A Brand New Version Is Here (1.1.0)!

Today I'm on a train from Stockholm, heading down south to visit my daughter.

With some time to spare — and trying not to dwell on the absurd price of the ticket — I figured I'd push out an update to the Dataset Prepper tool. Seriously though, isn’t it strange how traveling by train is often more expensive than taking the car?

In a time when we should encourage more sustainable choices, you'd think the state-owned railway infrastructure in this country would make trains the cheaper option. But no... here we are. Price hikes and all. No wonder climate efforts struggle.

Anyway — sitting here not thinking about all that — I fired up my laptop and launched version 1.1.0.

This update addresses a few areas where the last version could improve:

What's new in version 1.1.0:

Faster file reading on large datasets

The app now loads file lists first and analyzes image data afterward.

This small shift significantly improves responsiveness, especially on big folders.

Wider format support

You can now import images in:

png, jpg, jpeg, bmp, gif (single frame),

webp, avif, tiff, tif, ico, tga,

and RAW formats: cr2, nef, arw, dng, rw2, orf, raf, sr2.

AVIF and WebP are growing fast in usage, and now there’s no need to convert them externally.

Better stability

A few smart try/except blocks have been added to catch potential errors and avoid crashes.

That said, it's never actually crashed for me so far.

Hope you enjoy the update — and that your workflow feels a bit smoother now.

Cheers from the rails,
